If you are an artist seeking to work with a management group, there are many options that you have at your disposal. Each management company is going to come with its pros and cons and will suit individual artists better depending on their situations.

In this article, we will dive into some key questions regarding three popular music management groups available to artists. What does red light management do? What does CSP music group cost? Is Avalon Artists Group a good agency? Here is our comparison of these three popular music management agencies.

The Red Light Management group has been around since the early 90s, as they were founded in 1991 by Coran Capshaw. Early on, they made a name for themselves as they helped catapult the Dave Matthews Band into stardom.

Since the early stages, Red Light Management has grown into the largest independent music management company in the world. Due to its reputation, it is always in consideration for artists who are looking to take their career to the next level.

What does Red Light Management actually do for artists?

In short, they use their talented management team to develop lasting careers for artists and therefore create a legacy for those artists that live on. As with any music management company, Red Light Management’s job is to handle all the business aspects of being an artist. This includes bookings, promotions, recording contracts, business deals, and more.

One benefit of working with Red Light Management is the star-studded list of artists that they currently manage. This allows for plenty of networking opportunities for up-and-coming artists who work with the management company. Some high profile names that are signed with Red Light Management include 3 Doors Down, Luke Bryan, and Tom Petty, just to name a few.

CSP Music Group markets itself as a full-service entertainment logistics company. This is just fancy talk for a full-on music management company. One appeal of CSP Music Group is that they work with a wide variety of artists, from independent smaller artists to seasoned recording artists.

This management group has worked with artists like Destiny’s Child, P!NK, and Mariah Carey. It was founded by Christopher Starr under the original name of Starrtraxx Music Productions, which was later changed.

There are multiple advantages to partnering with CSP Music Group as an artist. The most immediate one is the well-established industry connections that the management group has. For artists who struggle to build their network, this will give them an immediate boost. CSP Music Group also doubles as an independent record label, so artists who work with them as their management team also have the opportunity to move forward with a record deal with CSP.

What does CSP Music Group cost for artists who want to work with them?

Well, it is not that cut and dry. The cost of having them manage you will depend on your individual needs as an artist. As CSP Music Group states on their website, “Once you let us know a price point that is comfortable for you, we create a game plan to accommodate all that you need within that range”.

The Avalon Artist Group is a talent agency that is based in New York City. They market themselves as a full-service talent agency, kind of similar to CSP Music Group. One difference is that Avalon Artist Group also works with actors and actresses across the United States as well as music artists.

The group has representatives across the country, including Chicago, Atlanta, and Miami. Their two headquarters are located in New York City and Los Angeles.

Avalon has placed their talent in a number of big-name shows and musicals, including The Marvelous Mrs. Masel, Pretty Woman, and New Amsterdam. So within your search for a great management company, if you have ever wondered…

Is Avalon Artist Group a good agency?

The short answer is yes. They have the track record to deserve the nod on that question. The thing is, if you are a music artist looking for the right management company, Avalon Artist Group might not be the best option.

They have marketed themselves pretty heavily towards actors, and unless you are very focused on performing in a musical, the other management companies in this comparison may suit you better.

The Bottom Line

All three of the management companies we have discussed in this comparison are reputable management teams, and they work hard to garner the success of their artists. If you are strictly focused on music rather than musicals, television projects, and film projects then we would suggest leaning towards Red Light Management and CSP Music Group.

With Red Light Management on your side, you have the immediate big name brand recognition. Red Light Management is one of the largest names in talent management. They focus on independent music, with a wide range of genres in their artist roster.

CSP Music Group is an artist management company that doubles as an independent record label. They take a comprehensive approach to help their artists succeed, which includes production, artist development and management, marketing, promotion, publicity, and touring.

Both of these companies will help any independent artist who is looking to grow and create a long-lasting career and legacy. Each management team has a deep level of connection to the music industry, making networking and industry growth a lot easier. At the end of the day, working with a skilled management team allows any artist to focus more on creating the music that their fans love, and that’s what’s most important.

KID TRAVIS (R&B, POP)

With an already buzzing YouTube audience of over 400K+ subscribers, Kid Travis wanted his Instagram profile to start gaining some of that same traction.

While you can get some spill over audience from YouTube, Kid Travis knew that Instagram ad campaigns could boost his presence on IG even further!

He discovered that trying to run Instagram ads yourself vs. having us add our years of experience and expertise to them made a huge difference!

His main goal was to achieve new followers who are seriously interested in his journey as an artist.

Kid Travis already had amazing talent but needed to combine his music genius with some marketing expertise to get the best of both worlds.

We were able to bring out the heart of his music through paid ads by editing & optimizing his existing videos and properly researching and structuring his ad campaigns.

The end results: We were able to consistently and predictably gain followers averaging between $0.25-$0.35 per follower (including a bulk of the promotion being done in high cost English speaking countries such as United States, United Kingdom, Australia, & Canada) resulting in around 4,000 new, engaged followers/month on Instagram.
