If you are a music fanatic like us, then you probably have heard about or use the app, SoundCloud. This music streaming platform is responsible for taking many undiscovered artists like Post Malone and Billie Eilish, and turning them into superstar household names.
A main problem that many artists face at the start of their career journey is getting people's attention, gaining views, and building a fanbase. We all hate getting crickets after posting that track you worked on for weeks on end.
Artists on SoundCloud often use different tactics to try and catch the attention of users such as spamming in the comments section (don't be that guy), or buying fake plays and followers (also, don’t be that guy). Instead, there is a highly more effective practice that can be done by SoundCloud artists looking to build their fanbase, Repost Trading.
As the name suggests, this is where an artist reposts a song in exchange for their song to be reposted. There are many well-established accounts of individuals or labels which also sell reposts for certain genres that they represent. One company that helps artists do this more efficiently is Repost Exchange.
But the question many artists have, is Repost Exchange on SoundCloud legit? With so many fraudulent music promo companies out there, it’s good to ask these questions and proceed with caution before paying any business your hard-earned money.
Well, we’ve personally vetted this service and are pleased to answer all of your questions and concerns with this unbiased and truthful review of SoundCloud Repost Exchange.
Especially for up-and-coming artists, SoundCloud is a very big deal. The platform has over 170 million users and listeners all across the globe, which in hindsight means 170 million potential new fans you can reach.
SoundCloud is also the second most growing music platform after YouTube. For a service that provides so much for free, it is totally worth your time and effort to utilize this app to your advantage.
You will also find many influential artists and labels active on SoundCloud. One label in particular that we at Omari Music Promotion have had the honor to work with, Spinnin’ Records. The list of artists that credit their fame to SoundCloud goes on and on; some of these names include Russ, Lil Yachty, Kehlani, Chance the Rapper and many more.
Though the term ‘SoundCloud rappers’ has developed a bad reputation around the industry, many of them have gone on to win multiple Grammy awards and achieve major stardom by planting their roots into SoundCloud. There is no denying the potential that this platform can provide.
When an artist uploads a track to SoundCloud, users have the option to share it with the ‘repost feature’. When a song is reposted by someone, it is shared to their user profile and shared to everyone of their followers as well. Meaning, anyone who follows that person can directly see and listen to the reposted song instantly.
This is by far the best feature in terms of gaining exposure on SoundCloud. Just by one person reposting your song, you can literally double your reach in the matter of seconds. This extra exposure is quite sure to increase your plays, attract new fans, and overall grow your following.
All reposts are good, but if you want to be more efficient, you should know your target audience and aim to get those people to repost your music. It’s important to target users who listen to music similar to yours because they are the ones who are more likely to enjoy and share your music.
For example, you are an emo-rap artist. Getting reposts from rappers will benefit you for sure, but getting reposts from emo-rappers will benefit you the most, because it will target people that are interested in the exact type of music genre you create.
Repost Exchange is the self-proclaimed #1 SoundCloud promotion tool that boasts over 250,000 SoundCloud artists and offers growth to your music.
The economy of this tool is built on credits. You earn credits by sharing music you like and contributing to the Repost Exchange community, then you spend credits on promoting your own music. Think of it like the old saying goes, “You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours”.
With Repost Exchange, artists have access to discover, network, and collaborate with other like-minded artists, which is extremely beneficial. You can also get featured in their exclusive podcasts, playlists, and charts.
They are also currently working on a new feature (which is still in the BETA phase) that allows artists to get valuable, honest, and detailed peer-to-peer feedback on their music. This will be another way for users to earn credits by providing helpful feedback to others.
The interface on the website is extremely user friendly, so there will be no need for you to search ‘how to use Repost Exchange” on Google or Youtube. Once you go to the webpage, you will see a button that will easily and automatically link your SoundCloud page to Repost Exchange in the matter of seconds.
Once you get your profile set up, you will start on the dashboard. If you are using a computer, everything you need will be in a widget on the left of the screen. Browsing Campaigns will let you see all the campaigns of fellow Repost Exchange members.
You will start out with 30 credits, and you will use these credits by requesting reposts from other users. You can also gain credits by accepting repost requests from other users. You will only get 10 reposts per every 12 hours, so remember to choose wisely.
Browsing the ‘members’ section will show you all other members who allow direct repost requests. On the free version, you can have 25 open direct requests at any given time. This is where you'll get most of your reposts from. Direct Requests Incoming shows you all the tracks that are currently in your inbox waiting for you. There is no limit on how many direct requests reposts you can do per day, so go crazy and remember the more you interact with the direct requests, the more you will be building your network.
To make this easier you can also go to your settings and block direct requests that do not match any of your genres. Direct requests only last 24 hours so remember to stay active.
You can also start your own campaigns by going to the top right corner and clicking the "Start New Campaign" button. To do this you will need at least 50 credits, so you will need to do a bit of credit hustling before launching your first one.
Campaigns last for 1 week, but you can end a campaign and get the remaining credits back earlier if you choose to do so. Even though it is easier and less time-consuming than finding appropriate members to send direct requests, campaigns are often ineffective compared to direct requests.
The platform's currency is essentially based on credits. Artists can get started with Repost Exchange at a very attractive $0 and will automatically receive 30 credits. You can also purchase credits starting from 1000 credits for $29.99 to 25,000 for $499.99. If you don’t want to purchase additional credits, no worries because they are quite easy to earn. You can also invite friends to use Repost Exchange to get an additional 50 credits per each signup.
Once your 30 free credits run out, you will then get 10 free new credits each day. Among many things that make this app so great for artists is its ability to be utilized at zero cost. If you are an upcoming artist trying to promote your music with little to no budget, there should be no reason for you not to take advantage of Repost Exchange’s free plan.
With that said, the free plan does not give you much access to the additional features that help make this service so useful for musicians. If you are wanting a more premium experience with Repost Exchange, from $12/month to $250/month you can choose from one of their Pro Plans: Artist, Network, Promoter, or Ultimate. Check out the advanced features of each in the graph below.
Repost Exchange is completely legit. It is evident by the number of regular artists the platform boasts, but also they provide you with real guaranteed results. All stats you will receive from the company will be solid data about the reach and interaction of your music.
Another huge attribute of this site is that you will find absolutely no bots. Your content will never be promoted by bots, or even accounts boosted by bots. All of your playbacks and reposts will come from real people and real listeners who have potential to become a real fan of your music.
Also, we all are aware of the danger online data theft poses in this day and age. So it will comfort you to know that Repost Exchange is protected by Audiu, a well established music platform that has been running since 2014, and is secured with the latest web technologies. So your content is completely safe on this platform.
Just like almost everything in existence, Repost Exchange does have cons of its own. We do believe that the good outweighs the bad in terms of the website and it’s features.
Though the service is great and helpful to those who use it, in sake of a fair and honest review, we’ve listed some of the downsides to Repost Exchange below:
Not enough presence to make a global impact
Despite offering 30 credits, the free plan falls short in features compared to the paid plans
Limited number of 10 reposts users can make per day
Only compatible with Soundcloud
If you are an artist looking for more exposure, we would definitely recommend you try out Repost Exchange. If you sign up with the free version to begin with, there is literally nothing you have to lose.
Especially when you are starting out new on the platform, don’t get discouraged by rejection on your direct requests. Remember, this is a normal part of the process. Not every user has a 100% success rate and not every listener will like your music, and that’s perfectly fine! If your request gets rejected, you will also get your credits back. So again, you have nothing to lose.
Once you begin getting the responses you want, try upgrading to one of the paid subscription packages to continue your growth within the platform. Like we mentioned, there’s only so far you can go with the freemium version of Repost Exchange. We understand that nobody enjoys opening up their wallet, but you won’t be able to put a price on the benefits it will bring you and your career in the long run.
